Accessibility Statement
Last updated: 21 March 2026
Cortex Freelancer is committed to ensuring digital accessibility for people with disabilities. We are continually improving the user experience for everyone and applying the relevant accessibility standards.
Our Goal
We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA. These guidelines explain how to make web content more accessible for people with a wide range of disabilities, including visual, auditory, physical, speech, cognitive, language, learning, and neurological disabilities.
Measures Taken
Cortex Freelancer takes the following measures to ensure accessibility:
- Semantic HTML — we use proper heading hierarchy, landmark roles, and semantic elements throughout the platform
- Keyboard navigation — all interactive elements are fully accessible via keyboard, including tab navigation, enter/space activation, and escape to close
- Skip links — a "Skip to content" link is available on every page to bypass repetitive navigation
- Focus indicators — visible focus outlines (
:focus-visible) are applied to all interactive elements for keyboard users - Colour contrast — text and interactive elements maintain a minimum contrast ratio of 4.5:1 against their backgrounds
- Responsive design — the platform adapts to all screen sizes and supports text resizing up to 200% without loss of content
- Form labels — all form inputs have associated labels and clear error messages
- Alt text — informative images include descriptive alternative text; decorative images are marked accordingly
- ARIA attributes — where native HTML semantics are insufficient, we use ARIA roles, states, and properties
- Motion sensitivity — animations respect
prefers-reduced-motionuser preferences
Conformance Status
The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) define requirements for designers and developers to improve accessibility. It defines three levels of conformance: Level A, Level AA, and Level AAA.
Cortex Freelancer is partially conformant with WCAG 2.1 Level AA. "Partially conformant" means that some parts of the content do not fully conform to the accessibility standard. We are actively working to achieve full conformance.
Known Limitations
- AI-generated content — content produced by our AI tools (proposals, analyses, etc.) may not always meet readability guidelines. We are working on improving output formatting.
- Third-party content — some embedded third-party services (Stripe checkout, Firebase authentication) may have their own accessibility limitations outside our direct control.
- PDF exports — generated PDFs may not be fully tagged for screen reader compatibility. We are evaluating improvements.
Compatibility
Cortex Freelancer is designed to be compatible with the following assistive technologies:
- Screen readers (NVDA, JAWS, VoiceOver, TalkBack)
- Screen magnification software
- Speech recognition software
- Keyboard-only navigation
The platform is tested on the latest versions of Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Edge.
